- FAQ
Pricing-specific questions we hear most
Why is 409a pricing flat but other services custom-quoted?
409a valuations follow a consistent process regardless of company size, so we can price them upfront. Other services (PPA, complex securities, embedded derivatives) vary significantly by transaction and instrument complexity, so we quote those individually after understanding your situation on a call.
Is there a fee just to book a call?
No – the management discussion call is free and is simply the first, mandatory step in every engagement.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. The fee quoted is the fee invoiced. Revisions to a draft, the management discussion call, partner review and tax audit support are all included; nothing is billed by the hour.
What is included in the price?
Every 409a engagement includes the management discussion call, an AICPA-compliant 409a valuation report, a draft in 2 business days*, partner review before final delivery, and tax audit support if your valuation is ever questioned.
Is refresh pricing available?
Yes. A refresh is priced separately from a new valuation and confirmed on your management discussion call. A refresh applies only where no material corporate event has occurred since your last report – see the Refund & Refresh Policy for what counts.
Why does an LLC cost more than a corporation?
Membership interests and profits interests need a different allocation model from common stock in a corporation, and the option-equivalent analysis takes longer. The $1,199 fee reflects that additional work, not a different standard of review.
Do you offer cheaper 409a valuations for early-stage companies?
Our pricing is not stage-based, so a pre-seed company and a Series B company pay the same $899 for the same entity structure. We would rather hold one honest price than discount the work and reduce the review that makes the report defensible.
